I needed a watch I could read in the dark without my glasses. My Seiko kinetic is 10 years old and the glow in the dark tritium had dimmed to the point I could not read it in bed at night.

My husband loves it! It's very well made, masculine, a good weight(8 oz), the green face is gorgeous, and he really likes that you don't have to push a button to see the face at night. He works for our city's water dept., so the water resistance was a must. Luminox offers a great warranty, and sends the watch in a nice zippered case for protection.

Eye-catching white Arabic numerals adorn the dramatic black dial face, while smaller numerals on the dial mark the 24-hour clock, and a handy date calendar rests at the three o'clock position. Powered by analog-quartz movement and protected by an anti-reflective sapphire dial window, this watch is preferred by US Navy SEALs and US Air Force Pilots, and is water resistant to a depth of 660 feet.

The overall quality of this watch is good. Pros: high contrast easy to read dial is suitable for time queries at a quick glance, nice looking hands, bright in any light. The tritium hour markers are two minutes wide, allowing more precise timing in darkness. The carbon fiber dial also gives a kind of 3D look where the numbers appear to float off the background. The crystal is recessed below the SS bezel, protecting the crystal surface from scratches when the watch is set face down. Cons: The bezel on this watch is too tight. The only redeeming quality here is the deep knurling which makes it possible to rotate, but if your wearing thick gloves don't count on it. The high torque needed to turn the bezel is similar to other Luminox models I've had.
